Pet Wants Jackson

Meet the Owners

We’re Jeff and April Wilson, and we could not be more excited to offer Pet Wants fresh pet food and products to our neighbors here in Northwest Tennessee. We know first-hand no matter the size of your pet, proper nutrition is essential. We currently have a Doberman, and we’ve raised chickens, rabbits, Chihuahuas, cats and a chinchilla.

We are excited to be able to offer Pet Wants fresh, highly nutritious products to our community, and to help dog and cat parents to understand what’s in pet food so they can make the best decision for their own pets. Pet Wants Jackson is a mobile business that serves most of Northwest Tennessee between Jackson and Paris, including McKenzie, Martin, Dresden, Milan, Huntingdon, Camden and Lexington.

Our journey to Pet Wants started when Jeff’s Doberman started acting disinterested in her food. I had two bags of food and I noticed that one of them just didn’t smell right. It still had six months until it expired, but then I realized that dog food has an 18-month expiration timeline, so the food was already a year old. That’s when I started doing some serious research into the pet food industry and even took a pet nutrition class. When I did a taste test with Pet Wants and two other premium brands, my dog chose Pet Wants! That’s when we decided to open this business.

We both grew up in Mckenzie, went to the same school and had the same friends, but we lost touch when Jeff left for college and didn’t move back until 2020. In 2021, we reconnected, and the rest is history. We can’t wait to meet you!

History of Pet Wants

Our founder, Michele Hobbs, started Pet Wants out of love and frustration. One of her beloved dogs suffered from painful skin allergies and, no matter what food they tried, her pet continued to suffer. Michele realized very quickly that national dog food brands were not fresh, they lacked complete nutrition and, most importantly, they were filled with dozens of non-nutritious ingredients and animal byproducts

Michele decided to change that. She found a manufacturer and worked with them to formulate a custom pet food in small batches to be made fresh every month. Her animals loved the food — and so did the pets of all of her friends. Almost overnight, Pet Wants was born.
